Dr. Paola Barato who is from Colombia, is a DVM, Veterinary Pathologist, Specialist in Aquaculture, and Ph.D. in Biotechnology
She is the Scientific and Executive Director and co-owner of the companies: CORPAVET, MOLECULARVET Colombia, and US.
She is also FAO expert and APEC - industry consultant (MSD, Spring Genetics, Regal Spring, PNY, Troutlodge, Ziegler, Italcol, etc.) for pathology, health, and biosecurity of freshwater fish production.
Dr. Barato has developed her professional and scientific career to understanding the first interactions between microorganisms and hosts to propose strategies to prevent and control infectious diseases. She is co-author of the patent in "Glycoinhibitors of adherence of Streptococcus in fish".
She is also the Director of the Latin American and Caribbean Chapter (LACC) World Aquaculture Society (WAS), Regional Director for Latin America of World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association (WAVMA), Past-President of LCPG (Latin Comparative Pathology Group) of CLDavis-Thompson Foundation, and a founder member of the Colombian Network of Scientific Women.
